Support Program for Social Entrepreneurs
Social entrepreneurship is the work of a social entrepreneur. A social entrepreneur is someone who recognizes a social problem and uses entrepreneurial principles to organize, create, and manage a venture to make social change. Whereas a business entrepreneur typically measures performance in profit and return, a social entrepreneur assesses success in terms of the impact s/he has on society. While social entrepreneurs often work through nonprofits and citizen groups, many work in the private and governmental sectors.
The main aim of a social entrepreneurship as well as social enterprise is to further social and environmental goals.
Mission of the program:
To strike public social changes by finding, investing into and supporting the most outstanding public leaders of the country and the organizations or ideas they develop.
Goal of the program:
This program aims at finding and supporting entrepreneurial personalities with a strong innovative thought, which has the potential to bring a social change in creating public benefit.
Constituted commission will select the best ideas of social entrepreneurs and they will be awarded a cash prize of up to 50 000 LTL for the realization of their idea.
Requirements for social entrepreneurship program participants:
• Proposed idea/project will bring direct benefit to the population of the country.
• Goal of the proposed idea/project is to deal with social problems/issues in an innovative way.
• Proposed idea/project has a firm base of benefit to the target group.
• Applicant(s) are able to prove that the project has a potential to bear effect at the national level or even to a larger extent.
• Idea/project is at a starting point or initiators have already an operating model and are in the search for weighty reinforcement.
• Applicant(s) agree to do full-time work on their idea/project for the coming two years. Note: if the project is submitted together with partners, where one person works full-time and the other only a part of time, programme organisers are ready to consider and observe such cases separately.
• Applicant(s) apply individually or together with partners.
• Applicant(s) is(are) the author(s) of the idea/conception or is(are) a directly involved person from the very start.
• On the day tender results are announced applicant(s) must be 18 years old.
